Drug Standardization Research Unit (DSRU)

     This unit has well-established pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, and microbiology laboratories and an instrumentation room equipped with sophisticated instruments like HPTLC, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry, Stability Chamber, Disintegrator, Tablet Friability apparatus, etc., which are used in the standardization and quality control of herbal drugs. This department is also engaged in the development of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for Unani compound formulations. The unit is also engaged in testing the internal and external drug samples for quality control studies through its approved Drug Testing Laboratory (DTL), approved by the State Drug Licensing Authority of Indian Medicine, Chennai, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
